On Sunday January 21st, the Wednesdays VIP crew is making a food field trip up to Bang Bang Food Hall.
Tucked away about a 10 minute walk from Colindale station lies Bang Bang Food Hall, London’s largest Asian food court hosting over 30 vendors of East and South east Asian food. Yesterday, with the tube strikes looming, I high tailed it up on the northern line to check out what this place is all about and I was positively shocked by the quality, prices, portion sizes and general enthusiasm I saw for Asian food at this place.

The best way to describe Bang Bang Food Hall is a sort of Disney world food lovers paradise for East and South Asian food, complete with huge portions sizes, affordable prices, and absolutely no holding back on flavor and spice.
The worst part about Bang Bang Food Hall is that you have to make choices.
Shall it be the Singapore style spicy crab, the Vietnamese Bun Cha grilled pork and noodles, or how about enormous portions of the crispy Korean fried chicken, coated in a lip-smacking umami packed soy garlic glaze? Of course, at the Four Seasons stall one can eat well with succulent Cantonese roast duck and char siu pork too…
This list goes on. And, there were so many vendors I came across serving food I’d never tried before including an entire stall dedicated to Hakka food, Balinese food, along with a veritable selection of desserts like egg tarts, bingsu and pandan rolls.
Perhaps what excited me most about this place was the energy inside. Within 15 minutes of opening, the hall is swarming with hundreds of people. Eating in many parts of Asia is almost akin to a national sport and you can feel the borderline Olympic fervor here as people race to secure spots and order. After eating there once, its hard to not to see why. For maybe the first time since living in London, I felt like I was finally in my happy place: a place with huge plates (not small plates!), uncompromising flavors, and a true mix of all types: young, old, families, couples, and everyone in between.
Bang Bang offers something for everyone but is undoubtedly best shared with a larger group. Therefore, I am thrilled to announce that the Wednesdays VIP crew is going on a field trip to Bang Bang Food hall on Sunday January 21st. Join us for an epic food adventure!
