For a country that imports most of our fruit and veg, the UK grows fantastic produce around this time of year, and it’s worth celebrating that.
While many restaurants in London celebrate seasonal produce, few focus on live-fire cooking. Even fewer refer to themselves as cults.
Introducing: Acme Fire Cult.
Chef Andrew Clark, founder/cult-leader of Acme Fire Cult, has over 25 years of experience as a chef and restaurateur opening places like Brunswick House and St Leonards.
Acme Fire Cult is different. The restaurant opened during COVID when outdoor dining was all that was allowed, which meant one thing for Clark: barbecue.
Against the backdrop of the open-fire grill, he’s quick to differentiate Acme Fire Cult from other barbecue restaurants. “We’re not another dude BBQ.”
How so? Well for one thing, Clark loves vegetables. So much so that at least 50% of the menu is plant-based, with produce coming from organic and heirloom varieties sourced micro-seasonally from across the UK.
“People come in for the meat and leave thinking the vegetables were the best part”
